Parts of the Waikato will join Auckland at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 from 11:59 pm Sunday 3 October. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the new development this afternoon.
The areas that will be covered by the restrictions will be Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Huntly, Ngāruawāhia and Hamilton City.
The announcement comes as the Ministry of Health was notified of two new positive COVID-19 community cases in Waikato, one case in Raglan and the other case in Hamilton East. As of today there are 33 community cases.
