Auckland is set to remain at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 after seven weeks at Level 3 and 4 but with some easing of restrictions. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield detailed those easing of restrictions at their 4 PM media briefing.

As of Tuesday 5 Oct 11:59 PM the restrictions to be eased include:

  • Children can return to Early Child Care centres that can support a maximum of 10 children per group
  • Parks will be open, people can go to the beaches, people can travel around Auckland for exercise.

The easing of restrictions does not apply to the parts of the Waikato recently moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 3. The rest of the country will remain at Alert Level 2.

As of today there are 29 community cases, 28 in Auckland and one in Waikato.
