NZ Moves to “Delta” Alert Level 2 at 11:59 pm Tuesday. Auckland Remains at Level 4

The whole of New Zealand bar Auckland will move down to Alert level 2 at 11:59 pm Tuesday 7th September. Schools and other education providers will be given 48 hours to prepare to be re-opened on Thursday.

There are 20 new cases today and all are in Auckland. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the changes to Alert Level 2 this afternoon, she says Alert Level 2 will look different because of the Delta variant. The changes include:

  • Wearing a face mask is mandatory in most public venues i.e, malls, libraries, shops (you can remove your mask in cafes, bars, and restaurants in order to eat and drink)
  • Mandatory record keeping comes into effect. Contact tracing becomes mandatory at 11:59 pm Tuesday 7th September
  • Limit of 50 people for indoor gatherings at hospitality settings and event venues. Up to 100 people for outdoor gatherings.
  • Gyms, Museums, Libraries must now adhere to 2 metre distancing.
