Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has briefed media this afternoon announcing the COVID Alert Level change for Auckland. Auckland is currently at Alert Level 3 for seven days. As of Sunday from 6am Auckland will return to Level 2, the rest of the country will return to Level 1.
Prime Minister Ardern says the decision has been made based on no new community cases beyond household members, excellent testing numbers, and close contacts continuing to be managed.
She says Cabinet will review this decision at the end of next week with a view to moving Auckland to Level 1 at the start of next weekend March 11.
