Labour Party Candidate Wins Auckland Local Body By-Election

Papaliitele Lafulafu Peo has been elected onto the Mangere-Otahuhu Local Body by-election for the Auckland City Council with 5,203 votes.

Papaliitele replaces Dr. Anae Neru Leavasa who resigned from the board and was elected as Labour Party MP for Takanini in the 2020 General Election.

Voter turnout  was  17.7 per cent. That’s a a 7.7 per cent decrease compared to the 24.8 per cent turnout for the 2019 triennial elections for this local board area.

Papaliitele will attend his inaugural local board meeting on Thursday 25 February .
